Did Kevin Nash vs. Mike Tyson Almost Happen?

Back in the strange, grungy, and gloomy decade known as the 1990s, a character named Diesel would serve as the longest reigning WWE Champion of said tortured decade.

Vince McMahon, being a ruthless opportunist, would see stars with his champion when he proposed a crossover charity match with the biggest boxer in the world, Mike Tyson. Kevin Nash recently discussed this proposal in Justin Barrasso’s Week in Wrestling column. Of the Tyson match, Nash would state the following:

“They brought me up to WWE Headquarters, which was called Titan Tower at the time, and Vince went into this elaborate idea of me fighting Mike Tyson in Central Park. I asked him, ‘How much am I going to get paid?’ Vince said it was for charity, and I said, ‘F—. I ain’t fighting Mike Tyson and getting knocked the f— out for charity.”

I wonder if Tyson can punch that high up.
That would certainly have been something to see and it’s certainly something that could have happened. While Nash likely would have gotten destroyed by Tyson, who was in his late 20s at the time and making a comeback after a long prison sentence during the end of Nash’s reign as WWF World Champion.

There’s no real reason for Nash to make this story up so we can call it something that would have been entertaining had it actually happened. If nothing else, it was for charity so it’s hardly something all that bad.
