General Hospital Spoilers: Maurice Benard Talks Sonny & Alexis Pairing – Will Kristina’s Parents Get New Chance at Romance?
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Maurice Benard recently spoke with SOD about the decades that he’s spent playing Sonny Corinthos. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Benard’s debut, he did an intriguing interview and reflected on past storylines as well as former love interests.
Of course, Benard opened up about all the romantic partners you might expect like Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil.
However, Benard also took a moment to acknowledge that he liked the brief romance between Sonny and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), which led to Kristina Corinthos-Davis’ (Kate Mansi) existence.
“Nancy’s very talented and she’s quick and she has a wicked sense of humor,” Benard said. “I was really into that relationship.
GH fans know Kristina is a big Sonny and Nina supporter, but how would she feel if her parents got a new chance at romance? It might be interesting to watch now that Kristina is getting more airtime.
The show might even have the perfect opportunity for Alexis and Sonny to grow closer. Kristina had some car trouble recently and refused to let Sonny buy her a new one, which almost seemed rather ominous.
It’s easy to imagine Kristina fighting for her life after a car crash down the road, so Sonny and Alexis might come together over their injured daughter.
Even if GH writers don’t go to that extreme, there’s still the potential for Alexis and Sonny to share the screen more.
If Kristina ends up being Molly Lansing-Davis (Brooke Anne Smith) and TJ Ashford’s (Tajh Bellow) surrogate after all, that could stir up some family drama.
Alexis warned Molly about all the issues using Kristina could bring, so Molly is currently going in another surrogacy direction.
That said, there’s the potential for Molly to change her mind and let Kristina carry a baby for her.
It could turn into a complicated family mess, so Sonny and Alexis could certainly step up to help Kristina through that.
Naturally, Alexis and Sonny’s romance might just remain ancient history, but it’s at least worth mulling over the possibility of a reunion since Benard said he was “really into that relationship.”
