Kody Brown’s history of stirring up trouble in his relationships has led three of his wives to leave. Will he destroy his relationship with Robyn Brown?
Robyn’s recent revelation that their relationship is “hell,” and her need to publicly state her desire for monogamy, implies that there may be underlying problems in their marriage.
Kody’s commitment to parenting may be weak, based on the fact that he feuds with his older children. Is Robyn doing most of the parenting in their household?
Sister Wives star Robyn Brown’s opening up about Kody Brown sabotaging their marriage, and it’s time to talk about how he might have done that. Looking back at Kody’s history, there were certain ways he stirred up trouble in his romantic relationships, even if he was doing it subconsciously. His actions led three other wives to flee, so he’s probably pulling some of the same stunts in his marriage with Robyn. She recently described their relationship as, “hell,” as per People.
Sister Wives season 18’s almost here, and the onscreen drama should be riveting, as the cast members were going through so much while the cameras were rolling. Also, Kody just revealed offscreen that he doesn’t plan to take another wife, after Robyn said that she’d feel disrespected if he did. A Google description of season 18 episode 1, “There’s No Such Thing As A Free Lunch,” teases some major fireworks. Christine Brown’s dealing with the aftermath of her split with Kody, and needs to talk with him face to face. Meanwhile, Robyn and Meri Brown don’t know how to plan holiday activities because the family’s a shambles.
Does Kody Ice Out Robyn?
One thing that Kody’s known for is neglecting wives. Sure, Robyn seemed to be the exception, but who knows what really goes on behind closed doors? Now, Kody has just one woman to interact with. When he’s in a mood, he might shut down emotionally, like he did with Meri, Janelle Brown and Christine. If Robyn feels iced out, she probably also feels undervalued.
Robyn’s been acting a bit strange lately. She used to be the most respectful wife. Robyn would voice issues without getting too snarky or angry. Now, she’s speaking out, and possibly breaking their trust. When she told the world that she wanted monogamy, it seemed like she shouldn’t have to say that. If Robyn and Kody are really close, then why does she need to let everyone know that she’d feel disrespected if he courted a potential new wife?
Since she just admitted that they’re having problems, Kody might have made his monogamy statement to try and please an unhappy wife. When it comes to their relationship, it almost seems like Kody and Robyn are protesting too much. They’re trying too hard to show the world that everything’s ok. If they were just happy together, would there be a need for these kinds of public proclamations? Probably not.
Does Kody Leave All The Parenting To Robyn?
Robyn and Kody are parents. In the past, Kody’s had issues with some of his 18 kids. Without exception, they seem to be closer to their mothers than their father. This is possibly because Kody, the great patriarch, considers childcare a woman’s job. Plural marriage is an old-fashioned practice. It hearkens back to another time when women were chattel. Since Kody embraced polygamy for so long, he may feel superior to women. It could be argued that plural marriage is a chauvinistic thing, where men have power, and women try to curry favor with the heads of households.
As the king of the castle, Kody may not always have stepped up as a dad. He surely loves his children and spends time with them. However, his feuds with some of his kids have gotten fairly explosive. Paedon Brown accused his dad of being unvaccinated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether that was true or false, it was inflammatory. Paedon’s comments damaged Kody’s reputation, which was already in tatters.
Gwendlyn Brown has criticized her father’s supposedly reckless spending, and griped about Robyn. She’s not quiet about the fact that she has issues with her father and his one remaining wife. Kody seems frustrated by the demands of parenting. However, in his defense, with so many kids in the mix, some of them are bound to feel neglected by their dad.
Kody Called His Exes “Princesses” – Does He Put Robyn Down Too?
In the past, Kody sometimes made his wives feel small. For example, he sneeringly called them, “princesses” onscreen, but he wasn’t talking about Robyn. It seemed like she was usually exempt from that kind of mocking derision. Since she’s getting real about how bad her marriage has become, it’s possible that Kody puts her down behind the scenes. Robyn cries a lot, but she’s not really known for her fits of temper. However, over the past few years, Kody has appeared to be very irritable, in marked contrast to his smiley persona in early Sister Wives seasons.
Kody’s Exposed Robyn To Ridicule By Favoring Her
Last but not least, by so openly favoring his wife Robyn, Kody made her the show’s villain. Sure, he should get that label, but in keeping with the “old-fashioned” practice of polygamy, the woman got the blame. Yes, Kody gets trashed, but no one gets eviscerated the way that Robyn does. He probably loves Robyn, but he’s put her through the wringer.
The hate that’s been directed at Robyn over the years is almost unbelievable. Sure, she’s seemed very insincere at times, but this woman has never been openly rude to anyone. She’s actually been nice, mostly, at least on the surface. If she’d dialed down the passive-aggressive words and actions, she might have been able to stop the flood of harsh and mocking comments. She made other choices. That’s on her, but who’s really at blame for the favoritism that triggered it all? White sports car driving, curly-haired Kody!
Now that Sister Wives season 18 is launching, there’s so much to be excited about. Drama is what reality TV’s all about, and the Brown family certainly provides it. Kody may be sabotaging the one relationship he has left, after driving away three women who once cared about him (they might still care), but all of his sketchy choices lead to onscreen conversations that are hard to look away from. Will Kody get over his issues and make it work with Robyn for a lifetime? If he does, he’ll be accomplishing something impressive. Breaking negative patterns that have been ingrained for years is not easy.
