General Hospital Spoilers: Jason Morgan’s Replacement Is a Failure – Incompetent Dex Can’t Measure Up
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) got a mention in the September 5 episode as Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) worried about Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and the prison predicament he could be facing.
Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) tried to comfort Dante by pointing out that Sonny had wiggled out of tight spots in the past, but Dante insisted Sonny didn’t have a Jason to help him this time.
It was a nice nod to just how much Sonny came to rely on Jason to avoid consequences and keep his business running.
Sam reminded Dante that Sonny had Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) and others he could count on, but Dex just proved he’s a pale imitation of THE Jason Morgan! When Dex needed to fully destroy the flash drive fragments that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) smashed, he admitted he should’ve burned them.
Unfortunately, what Dex should’ve done and what he actually did were two very different things. Dex ended up putting those fragments in a public trash can, which is a huge mistake since he could’ve been followed.
The feds could’ve easily gained access to those fragments and used their technology to score incriminating evidence. It was a massive error that Jason arguably wouldn’t have made.
Jason understood what was at stake and hopefully wouldn’t have botched a simple job so badly. It’s not that hard to completely destroy a flash drive, but Dex couldn’t get that one task right!
You’d think Dex would know it’s pretty easy to dig through garbage and find things since he helped Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) go dumpster-diving for Avery Corinthos’ (Ava and Grace Scarola) bracelet at one point.
Bottom line, Dex made a horrible blunder and proved Jason Morgan’s replacement is a failure – at least so far.
There’s still a chance for Dex to get smarter about the way Sonny’s business works and learn from his mistakes, but he needs to wise up and get his act together. Right now, incompetent Dex just can’t measure up!
Of course, the good news is that Dex’s botched flash drive destruction probably isn’t what caused Sonny’s latest legal nightmare.
This surely has more to do with the planted proof leaked to Betty Rutherford (Ella Lentini) that ultimately wound up in Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) hands.
In fact, it seems Sonny may have a plan in motion that’ll result in exposing Cyrus as his enemy and getting himself off the hook eventually.
Even putting all that aside, we can’t ignore Dex’s bad call and have to wonder if there’ll be other instances where he’s just not up to Jason’s level.
Could this be a sign that the real Jason needs to return? Will Steve Burton exit Days of Our Lives and make a GH comeback down the road?
