Sister Wives season 18 episode 5 brought Christine Brown and Janelle Brown together to speak about the truth of their relationships with Kody Brown, while Meri Brown and Robyn Brown do the same elsewhere. With Christine having left the family during Sister Wives season 17, things have been rough for Kody and his remaining wives. Kody has been dealing with his feelings in a difficult way that’s been making his other relationships suffer, keeping things close to the chest. While he feels Christine has betrayed him, Kody’s other wives haven’t done anything wrong in their own marriages and he refuses to treat them like they haven’t.
With Sister Wives season 18 getting to the bottom of the issues in Kody’s marriages with Janelle and Meri, things have been unraveling quickly. Christine, who moved to Salt Lake City, Utah during the last season of Sister Wives, is still quite involved with the series and often lends an ear to Janelle when she needs it. Meri and Robyn, on the other hand, are still quite more openly pushing their relationships as Sister Wives season 18 continues on. Meri feels displaced, and with Janelle realizing her time with Kody may be up, the episode was full of revelations.
Christine Was Hurt By Kody’s Actions Towards Janelle And Savannah
After bringing over a beanbag for Janelle, Christine suggested that she make a move. When Janelle rebuffed the offer, Christine was quick to ask Janelle about what was happening in her relationship with Kody. Janelle shared that Christmas had been tough for their family, and when Christine found out that Janelle’s daughter Savannah Brown hadn’t spoken to Kody since her birthday in early December, she was incredibly upset with the situation. In an interview segment, Christine expressed annoyance that Kody was isolating Janelle and keeping her in Flagstaff when he wasn’t even talking to her.
In an interview segment of his own, Sister Wives patriarch Kody explained that he felt Janelle was creating a wall between himself and his children. He shared that he wasn’t happy about having to do the work for his relationships with his kids because the phone works both ways and while he was happy to put in the effort, he wanted to see it reciprocated. Kody often neglects the fact that in his relationships with his children, he is meant to be the parent and set the example. Christine, who was visibly angry, explained that she didn’t care if Kody was mad about the situation, saying, “if you’re a dad, you’re a dad. Step up.”

Robyn came to Meri to talk about the holiday season, explaining that she felt that Christmas “was tragic for me” because Kody didn’t work anything out with the rest of the family, leaving them with only their children and Meri to spend the day with. She shared that prior to the holiday, she’d done her best to get everyone together, but didn’t want Kody to be fighting with his and Janelle’s sons in front of everybody because it wouldn’t have been fair. Christine shared in an interview segment that Robyn and Kody made the decision to host Christmas without the family, but it was clear Robyn wouldn’t take the blame.
Robyn shared with Meri that she feels lost in their family structure because everyone’s decisions have felt unfamiliar, pushing for time away from each other instead of time together. She revealed some Christmas plans Christine and Janelle had to Meri, who had already been left out of them, making things a bit awkward for the women. Meri explained that things have been difficult with the family from early on, but even though “not one of us is perfect…[but] I think not one of us has done too shabby of a job.” Each of the wives discussed the rift in the family after Robyn joined, making it clear that was when everything changed.
Janelle Shared Her Thoughts On Her Relationship With Christine
During her visit with Janelle, Christine got to hear about what happened between Janelle and Kody before the holidays. When Christine asked her about her thoughts on the marriage, Janelle answered honestly. “I don’t know,” she explained, “I really don’t know. I’ve decided…I’m not even sure if I’m really interested [in fixing things].” She shared in an interview segment that she wouldn’t be going back to the marriage they had prior, especially recognizing the favoritism Kody had towards Robyn. In an interview segment, Kody explained that his schedule to see his wives only changed because of COVID-19, trying to make it seem like his time with his wives wasn’t already stacked in Robyn’s favor.
Janelle shared she wasn’t sure she could have a divorce, but felt that she was separated from Kody after their argument. She brought up her financial issues, explaining that Kody has been pushing her to have a better relationship with Robyn, ignoring the actual strain she’s been feeling about the money she’s put into Coyote Pass. It’s clear that Kody values Robyn’s opinion of her fellow Sister Wives highly, and that he’s decided anyone who isn’t treating Robyn in the way he feels is correct isn’t deserving of his time or attention. Christine made one final attempt to get Janelle to move away from Flagstaff, knowing it wasn’t the right time, but Janelle still had things to figure out in her relationship.
