Sister Wives fans are curious to know how the Browns and Kody’s wives earn from the show. On important question came up in light of Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets. Keep on reading to learn more.
Earlier this week, one fan noticed something while watching Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets. Their kids never earned anything from their appearances on 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On.
Jill and her husband Derick Dillard revealed that she signed a contract. However, she never made any money from the show because it would go to her father Jim Bob.
At the time, Jill didn’t understand the terms of the contract. Her father told her to sign it, not to read it. So, she was willing to go along with it because they weren’t allowed to question anything. They had to trust their parents. It turns out that Jill didn’t get paid for anything, including her wedding or her birth.
Jill didn’t even want to include the footage of her first birth on the show. However, TLC told her that she had to hand it over.
A fan who goes by the name LetterAccompished took to Reddit to share a spoiler about Shiny Happy People. They wanted to know if Brown’s financial situation in Sister Wives is similar to the Duggars.
“How much of a cut DID [Kody] get, then how much did the wives get for themselves? Then did they take THAT cut and put it into the ‘family’ pot? I think looking back the money situation might have been a lot more tense than they let on,” the user wrote.
Sister Wives Spoilers – Earnings
Other Sister Wives fans took to the thread to share their thoughts. Gwendlyn Brown recently talked about her time on the show. She also opened up about her relationship with Kody.
She explained that the “family pot” was the money they earned from TLC. It was labeled under Kody Brown Family Entertainment, per their contract.
Janelle Brown explained that each wife received their own budget. In addition, each of them made their own money outside the show due to their respective businesses.
The more money they earn, the less they take from the “family pot.” This is different from Jim Bob, who kept all the money from his kids.
Keep in mind the Duggar daughters aren’t allowed to work or make their own money. They have to live on the family allowance, in which their father pays for everything. What are your thoughts on how the Browns and Kody’s wives earn from the show? Sound off below in the comment section.
