General Hospital Recap: Friday, June 23 – ‘Eddie’ Spies On Nina – Drew Only Has 7 Days of Freedom Left
General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, June 23, reveals that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) had an outburst in court since Judge Kim’s sentence was far harsher than the plea deal Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) agreed to.
Judge Kim warned Carly to settle down and made it clear that this was his call to make. Zeke Robinson (Gavin Houston) tried to paint Drew as a hero who made a mistake, but Judge Kim said no one was above the law.
That’s why Judge Kim wanted Drew remanded to Pentonville to begin his three-year sentence right away.
Zeke managed to talk Judge Kim into giving seven days to get his affairs in order, so the judge agreed as long as Drew surrendered his passport.
Once court wrapped up, Zeke told Drew that this was a setback, but it wasn’t over yet. There would be a meeting to possibly get Drew’s sentence reduced, but it wouldn’t take place until after he was behind bars.
Drew shared some emotional moments with Carly as he vowed to make the most of his remaining time with her as well as Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante).
Although Drew wanted to sell Aurora to help pay Carly’s hefty fine, she was vehemently against the idea.
At the hospital, “Eddie Maine” aka Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) was eager to leave and ultimately had to be sedated since he was so stressed.
Meanwhile, Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) warned Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) to “back the hell off” since she was berating Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).
Tracy fired back at Gregory and pushed him to stay away from her as she dashed off to deal with more family drama.
After Alexis offered updates on Tracy framing her and getting her arrested, she confessed it turned out to be a good thing since it led to her turning her life around.
Although Alexis thought Gregory should just ignore Tracy’s antics, he remained protective of Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton).
Next, Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) talked to Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero), Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Chase about Ned’s traumatic brain injury.
It was a complex and unpredictable case when it came to Ned’s recovery. Kevin pointed out that Ned believed he was “Eddie Maine” and really WAS “Eddie” in his mind.
Once Kevin suggested Ned should start therapy, he warned it was important not to deny Ned’s reality. Tracy disagreed when she joined the gang and felt that Ned needed to get some sense knocked into him.
When Brook Lynn visited Ned’s room with Chase, “Eddie” grabbed her arm and pushed her to bust him out of there. Chase pushed “Eddie” to release Brook Lynn, so he did.
Brook Lynn vowed to take Ned home soon, but “Eddie” wanted to go to Vegas and wasn’t interested in being the man the Quartermaines knew.
Back with bickering Tracy and Olivia, Kevin told them that being “Eddie” gave Ned a sense of freedom that he needed right now.
Although Kevin felt that Ned needed space, Brook Lynn popped back up to reveal that her dad wanted a one-way ticket to Vegas!
By the time Tracy and the others reached Ned’s room, he had vanished from his hospital bed.
At the Metro Court Gardens, Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) interrupted Lucy Coe’s (Lynn Herring) conversation with Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) to hand over flowers to his love.
After Lucy accepted them, Sasha fished for info on the mystery client that Martin hinted about, but Martin refused to divulge any details.
Talk turned to the Deceptor wand selling like crazy, so Lucy praised Martin for helping her come up with the idea in bed one night.
Sasha clearly believed Martin and Lucy had a fairytale romance, so she asked when they were getting married.
Martin and Lucy responded that they’d never marry in unison, but Lucy later admitted to Sasha that she wanted to wed and thought she could plant the idea in Martin’s head.
At the Metro Court pool, Ned looked glum over texts about alimony from his ex-wives and eventually rolled into the water.
At The Savoy, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) were enjoying a night out when Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) appeared.
That led to Sonny speaking with Josslyn privately and asking if she could make peace with him. Josslyn admitted she had made peace with Dex’s job in Sonny’s organization, but he pointed out that wasn’t what he asked.
After Josslyn acknowledged that hurting Sonny also hurt people they both cared about, she seemed willing to back off. That was the best Josslyn could do, but Sonny hoped they could do better someday.
Back with Nina, she told Dex that they were both on “Team Sonny” and hoped that maybe he could convince Josslyn to give her a chance.
Dex said Josslyn could make up her own mind, but Nina pointed out that peace was always a good thing and was helpful for everyone – including Sonny and Dex.
After Dex agreed to think about it, he said he’d never let anyone hurt Sonny or Josslyn.
“Or Sonny’s wife, I trust?” Nina asked on Friday’s GH episode.
Dex confirmed that as long as Nina was important to Mr. Corinthos, then she was important to him, too.
Once Michael showed up, he revealed that the judge sentenced Drew to three years in Pentonville, so Nina blurted out that wasn’t how it was supposed to be.
Josslyn snapped at Nina and asked how it was supposed to be then.
Although Nina protested since Drew had a more lenient plea deal, Michael insisted that the judge did what he wanted.
Nina stepped away to take a call from Ava Jerome (Maura West) and admitted to feeling a little sorry for Carly. The news about Drew left Nina wondering what Carly would do without him for three years.
After “Eddie” entered The Savoy, he stood behind Nina and gazed at her while she was still on the phone.
General Hospital spoilers say Nina will land in some other tight spots as this storyline moves along, so stay tuned.
