After all, he had recently ventured into what was very new territory for him — linking up with a federal defense contractor to move weapons through his territory.
With Sonny unable to protect his family, the whole organization and everyone he cares about are at terrible risk of suffering a certain fate.

Carly Spencer (Laura Spencer) expressed her concern when she found out Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) was planning to take his father down.
No matter what Sonny does, his empire cannot crumble or the family may as well go up in flames with him.
Michael should have known better at the time but couldn’t see through his blind rage and hurt feelings.
Without Sonny on top of the mob wars in Port Charles, his family is at serious risk of being wiped out — and that’s putting it nicely.
GH Spoilers – Hint Selina Wu Really Is His Ally
Sonny has grown suspicious of Selina Wu (Lydia Look) over the last couple years. When his cousin, Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor), was killed by The Hook, Sonny wondered if Selina may have had a hand in it.
When she later purchased Brando’s garage from Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs), Sonny didn’t like that she was getting entangled with his family.
Every time a threat is looming, it seems like he feels the need to pull Selina aside and give her a talking to. He did so recently regarding Curtis Ashford’s (Donnell Turner) club, The Savoy.
But Selina has continually assured him she wasn’t after his territory or his family, and word on the street is she’s been telling the truth.
With Sonny on the outs in a holding cell, Selina might be the best ally he’s got to come through and hold it down on the home front while he’s “away.”

Just because Sonny has a moderate level of friendly trust in Selina doesn’t mean anyone else does. That goes for Carly, too.
She’s the last person who really stepped into Sonny’s shoes and took over when the chips were down.
Faced with having to protect her family from being overtaken — or taken out — once again, Carly may take it upon herself to step up to the plate in Sonny’s business.
