Daytime television thrives on tangled webs of complicated relationships. However, General Hospital has over the years pushed the limits several times by creating romantic couples out of characters who are practically family. It took a while for the gasps to die down when Sam and Dante became a thing. And now, the makers are doing the same with the younger generation of the soap! While some people might not like the taste of it, there are others who might argue that as long as blood relations aren’t involved it is alright. But is it really? Let’s take a look at who is stirring this debate again!
Young Love On The Rise
General Hospital has a vast canvas with many characters in the fold. However, more often than not, the main focus of the soap remains on the older characters. While the younger lot often stays in the sidelines. But it seems like the ABC soap is now shifting some focus on some characters from the younger generation. The adorable munchkins, Charlotte and Jake! For the unversed, Charlotte is Valentin Cassadine and Lulu Spencer’s biological daughter. Meanwhile, Jake is Jason Morgan and Elizabeth Baldwin’s son.
In the recent episode of General Hospital, Jake and Charlotte met for a date! The two had a gala time together, chit-chatting and drawing horses! Honestly, it was a rather cute sight! Watching two teenagers sit across the table, fawning over each other. Oh, young love! Sigh! All was hearts and roses, until we realized that Jake and Charlotte are actually technically legal cousins! And that’s when it became super awkward! Are we up for another cousins turn lovers kind of story?
Is Charlotte and Jake’s Romance Really Questionable?
Ever since this thought as dawned upon us, and many other General Hospital loyal fans. The idea of Jake and Charlotte together is becoming increasingly uncomfortable. But then, we wonder, are we being too hard on it? So the reason why the two teens are legal cousins despite having no blood relation is that Lucky Spencer was Jake’s legal father. Please not, legal and not biological. And since Charlotte is Lulu’s bio daughter, that makes them related legally.
But that’s the thing, what if Liz had the paper work changed on General Hospital? Maybe sometime somewhere off the screen, Liz decided to get Jason’s name on Jake’s papers. If that’s the case then he is not legally related to Charlotte anymore. However, even if Lucky’s name remains on the papers, does it really make a difference? It is still not a blood relations and the two perhaps have not even grown up looking at each other as cousins! And of course, we have seen worse on Daytime. What’s your take on it?
