General Hospital Spoilers tease that Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) certainly has grown up in the last six months. Having to take care of a child has taught him more than he realized he didn’t already know, and he’s committed to making sure no one can hurt his baby brother now. So when Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) resurfaces — albeit in Europe — Spencer just might feel a bit rattled by his dad’s presence.
Something about having confirmation that he’s still alive is going to leave him wondering how easy it would be for a powerful guy like Nikolas to seize custody and ice Spencer and Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) out of Ace’s life for good.
When Spencer drums up the only solution he can fathom, he’s going to seek out a rather unusual ally to get the job done.
General Hospital Spoilers — Paternity is Spencer’s Trump Card
If someone had asked Spencer months ago if any part of him desired to have a child with Esme, his answer would have been a resounding no. But times have changed, and Spencer needs Ace as much as Ace needs Spencer.
Spencer won’t be able to wrap his head around the idea of losing him or not being there to tuck him into bed every night.
It won’t take long for the cogs in his Cassadine mind to venture outside of the norm and find a solution for his problem that most practical people would never entertain.
The best way to make sure Nikolas can’t claim Ace as his own is to make it look like he’s not the tot’s bio-dad by rigging a paternity test.
GH Spoilers Claim Esme Will Be on Board
Pitching this idea to Esme just might go over more easily than Spencer would have imagined. After all, she’s already secretly pining for the guy — even if she hasn’t admitted such to herself yet.
Anything that will bring them closer and make her, Ace, and Spencer a real family is a win in Esme’s book.
But getting her to agree to Spencer being Ace’s father instead of his big brother is going to be the easier part of the problem-solving. Ahem, what about Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali)?

Spencer is no fool; he knows he and Trina are still young and may not work out. But he’s been counting on it for the foreseeable future, and now he’ll have to wrestle with the idea of breaking this news to her.
How would she take it if he said he willingly wanted to hitch himself to Esme’s wagon — for good? It’s not likely he’ll ever find out.
Esme has made a friend out of Dr. Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr), and as Trina’s mom, she would love nothing more than for Spencer to leave Trina in the dust.
So when Esme encourages Spencer to approach Portia for help fixing a paternity test — something that might be raw and even triggering for her — Portia just might use this as an opportunity to haggle with Spencer. Tit for tat.
