General Hospital spoilers suggest Ava Jerome (Maura West) has found herself embroiled in blackmail with Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) ever since he came to her aid in covering up Nikolas Cassadine’s (Adam Huss) alleged death. While their partnership started out as a scheme, there are hints that their relationship is about to take a more flirtatious and possibly lustful turn. Could Austin’s feelings for Ava be genuine, or is he playing a more dangerous game behind the scenes? Some fans are concerned that Austin has been a shady guy since he first set foot in Port Charles. Are his real intentions finally going to come to light?

General Hospital Spoilers — Nikolas Cassadine Isn’t Dead

It all began when Ava, recently divorced from Nikolas, needed to dispose of his supposedly lifeless body. That’s when Austin entered the picture. Initially, he contemplated going to the authorities, but he ultimately decided to lend Ava a helping hand. Confirming he was dead, Austin left Nikolas’ body in the tack room of the stables where they expected to find it later.

And just like that, he was gone. Enter Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey) and his plan to twist Ava inside out and force her to go against Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) for an unnamed enemy. It seems Ava isn’t taking this very seriously, despite thinking she killed her ex. Little does she know, Nik is alive and well, and able to point his finger of blame.

While Austin claims to be protecting Ava, some viewers suspect that there may be ulterior motives at play. Could Austin be playing both sides, buttering Ava up as an ally while secretly aligning himself with Mason? We all know how romance works for Ava, and some of us are wondering why she hasn’t figured it out yet. Most of the men who have entered Ava’s life have betrayed her, and many were using her. Is she really going to fall for Austin’s charms without questioning where they came from? Is she that desperate to be loved that she will once again overlook Austin’s real intentions to manipulate her?

Austin may have been playing hard ball with Mason in the beginning as he tried to break free from his family’s clutches, but it’s clear something has changed. He may not even be pretending as to how much he loathes his shady cousin, but it’s rather suspicious that he showed up at Ava’s on Valentine’s Day when he did. It’s equally as odd that he — a doctor — said Nikolas was dead when he wasn’t.

And now, he’s pressuring Ava to comply with orders to attack the father of her child, without any information about where such orders are coming from for Ava to mull over in weighing her decision. It would be easier to convince her this ‘boss lady’ means business by just telling her who the person behind the curtain is, right?
