Sister Wives – Coyote Pass Drama Ruined The Brown Family (“Monogamous” Kody & Robyn Could Split Up)

Sister Wives duo Kody and Robyn may implode after paying off their Coyote Pass debts. Will the Flagstaff, Arizona land saga tear them apart?

Sister Wives is all about drama, including the grueling Coyote Pass saga, and the “war” that was fought over this patch of Arizona land may tear Kody and Robyn Brown apart. Recently, Kody and Robyn paid off their Coyote Pass debts, but issues related to the property cast a long shadow. Those problems destroyed the plural marriage that once included Meri, Janelle and Christine Brown. Christine practically gave away her Coyote Pass shares, selling them for only 10 dollars. After three of Kody’s wives rode off into the sunset, Robyn said that she’d feel disrespected if Kody took a new wife.

While the Browns aren’t war heroes, like the brave Allied soldiers who landed at Normandy during WWII, laying their lives on the line, the battle over Coyote Pass was all too real. Kody could perhaps be compared to Napoleon (whom Joaquin Phoenix is portraying in an upcoming film), as his last war changed everything. Napoleon died in exile on the island of Saint Helena, after losing the Battle of Waterloo. Sister Wives‘ Kody Brown can fight another day, but his Coyote Pass dreams are dust in the wind. Instead of a patriarchal utopia (that’s kind of an oxymoron), he got tears and resentment.

Why Was The Battle Of Coyote Pass So Pivotal?

It’s just a piece of land, but then again, it’s so much more than that. Why? Well, had it been successful, Kody’s Coyote Pass gambit would have revitalized his polygamous family. Wives would again live close together, although not in the same home. Kody could lead his spouses, calling the shots from his own well-appointed residence. He would be in control again, following years of turmoil.

The problem is that the Brown family began splintering long before his tedious Coyote Pass planning phase even began. That damage was serious, and the impact of squabbles over who would live where (close to the water, or near the trees?) highlighted the seamy underbelly of the Brown family. It wasn’t group love – it was group hate. Feuds erupted like wildfires, and people turned on each other.

While the ties that bind kept all the wives in the polygamy game for a while, the connections between the females and Kody were essentially poisoned, and Coyote Pass definitely wasn’t the antidote. It exacerbated the problems that were already there, pushing the Brown family towards critical mass. The Browns were doomed, and Coyote Pass made that truth so hard to ignore.

Will Kody & Robyn Make Things Work?

Life goes on, and the Browns are doing their best to regroup, but not plurally. Meri Brown finally pulled away from the husband who rejected her over and over again (good for her!), Christine pioneered the exodus (in her own fiery and independent way), and Janelle slid away in a quieter, less dramatic fashion that suits her “no BS” personality. The women will be fine – correction: they ARE fine. It’s Kody and Robyn who are left to reassemble the scattered puzzle pieces of their relationship. Those pieces may not fit anyone, as so much has changed.

Can Sister Wives Kody and Robyn survive the Coyote Pass fallout? If Kody heeds the warning of his wife, and doesn’t go a-courtin’, maybe. If past history repeats itself, and he preens and peacocks with a new woman, all hell may break loose. Kody has bad blood with his former loves, and it’s not impossible that he and Robyn will call it quits. If that happens, Coyote Pass will always be a symbol of what could be, and how it can all fall apart.
