‘Sister Wives’ Star Mykelti Faces Backlash for Leaving Her 3 Young Kids Behind on Vacation
You would think that people would have realized by now that mom-shaming is not cool. And yet, it continues to pop up in places we wouldn’t expect. Recently, Sister Wives star, Mykelti, daughter of Kody Brown and Christine, shared a photo on Instagram looking for advice but she was shamed instead.
On July 28, Mykelti shared a selfie photo of herself in front of a fridge.
Inside the fridge was some breast milk the mom of three has been pumping while she’s been enjoying a vacation with her mom and sisters.
Since she has three young kids at home, daughter Avalon and twin boys Archer and Ace who were born in November and are still nursing, she’s been pumping her breast milk.

But she’s not sure what to do with the supply she’s accumulated.
“I’m on Holiday without my babies,” Mykelti shared in the caption of the photo share. “I’m pumping to keep up my supply, I can’t donate it in the country I’m staying. So what are my alternative options?”
She tagged a few ideas including taking a bath with the breast milk or using it as an alternative to cow milk.

However, some commenters glossed right past her question and went in with shame instead.
“You left Tony with all 3 babies,” one critic wrote, speaking of Mykelti’s husband, Tony, who is not on the vacation with them.
“Did you leave your babies???” someone else questioned, as if she never plans to go back home.

And another person threw some extra unnecessary hate.
“And unpopular opinion, you shouldn’t be taking a vacation while breastfeeding,” one critic wrote in the comment section of Mykelti’s post asking for breast milk advice.
“You have a fraction of your life to breastfeed your children and the ENTIRE REST of your life to vacation. Have some perspective.”
People jumped to Mykelti’s defense, not only because the comments were rude to her, but they’re a bad message overall.
“To all the people trying to shame her for leaving on a trip and leaving the babies with their dad, the other caregiver, women are allowed to have time to themselves, even if you don’t agree with it, dads are VERY capable of caring for their kids, your opinion on her doesn’t pay her bills, so kindly stfu,” one person hit back.
“[Tony] is just as capable as Mykelti so how about no on passive aggressive implied insults towards either of them,” someone else wrote.

Another supportive fan came with a side of sarcasm, writing: “oh no the audacity of leaving children with their other parent.”
“He’s the equal parent. Why assume all the responsibility on the mom?” another wrote. “ Why is that a problem for you? He is perfectly capable!!” shared someone else.
“All the people judging her for traveling with her family without her babies…🤮. She deserves this!” wrote another fan who knows mom shaming is not cool. “It makes you a better parent when you can have your own life still. She’s an amazing mom! You go Mykelti! So glad people are giving advice for you to not waste your milk!”
Thankfully, Mykelti did receive lots of good advice on what she could do with her pumped milk. And, hopefully, she had the best time on vacation.
