Donnie Wahlberg Shares a Sweet Memory of Working with Jimmy Buffett on ‘Blue Bloods’

Jimmy Buffett passed away at the age of 76, according to a statement on his official Instagram account. Since news of his death was announced, his friends and fellow celebrities have been flooding social media with tributes to the “Margaritaville” singer. New Kids on the Block singer and Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg shared his memories of working alongside Jimmy.

Jimmy’s singing career spanned more than 50 years, and he also had a few acting credits to his name, including Hawaii Five-O, Billionaire Boys Club, and Jurassic World. Most recently, he appeared on a 2022 episode of Blue Bloods, where he went toe-to-toe with Detective Danny Reagan, portrayed by Donnie Wahlberg.

In the season 12 episode “On the Arm,” Jimmy joined the cast to portray Dickie Delaney, a con artist pretending to be Jimmy Buffett, who comes under Detective Reagan’s investigation.

Donnie shared a selfie with the legendary singer, and both are seen smiling on the beach. Donnie wrote, “There is a popular audio used for IG reels — ‘when you think you’re the coolest guy in the parking lot, and then this guy shows up.’ Jimmy Buffett was that guy! The coolest, and one of the absolute nicest, guys I ever knew. I was so looking forward to seeing you, and working with you, again Jimmy. Now, I’ll look forward to catching a most heavenly sunset with you some day, instead. My eternal respect and gratitude to you, my friend. 🙏🏼❤️🕊️💫 #RIPJimmyBuffett”
