Janelle has shared that her fight with Kody, which was bitter and harsh for both parties, left her feeling triggered and uncomfortable. In order to make herself feel better, Janelle decided to treat herself. She went on a Mexican getaway after the fight aired on Sister Wives season 18, sharing some snaps on her Instagram about the trip. Though it was likely a planned trip to the sunny beaches of Mexico, Janelle took the time to escape from her problems and decompress. Things with Kody have been so difficult to deal with, that she truly felt like she needed to leave entirely.

Although the pandemic hit everyone in the Brown family hard, Janelle was the one who felt the most strain when it came to Kody’s wives. Unlike Kody’s other wives, Janelle was left as the odd wife out when her children weren’t interested in listening to Kody’s stringent COVID-19 protocols, which he put in place on top of the standard practices. As a result of Kody’s rules, Janelle had to parent their children on her own and felt just how difficult that was. During their argument, it was clear Janelle was hurt by the fact that Kody had left her alone during one of the most difficult times of her life.

Although Kody has tried to play it off, he’s been dismissing Janelle’s claims about her financial status throughout Sister Wives season 18. Janelle, who says she sunk all her money into the mortgage for Coyote Pass, has been doing her best to recover financially by continuing to appear on Sister Wives and selling products online like Plexus. Unfortunately, while Janelle’s finances seem to be in shambles, Kody has simply been pushing off her concerns. He publicly doesn’t believe her claims, putting Janelle on the defensive and making it clear she doesn’t have a safe place to turn to or ask for help.

While Kody remains adamant that he doesn’t play favorites when it comes to his wives, it’s clear that he does have a favorite in Robyn Brown. His most recent wife, Robyn is the person Kody has sacrificed the most for and takes up the majority of his time and attention. She has become his favorite wife over the time they’ve been together, and in the near-decade they’ve been married, this has become very apparent to Kody’s other wives. Rather than sticking around and hashing out an argument, Kody typically runs away when things get hard. He’s done this for years, but most recently showed just how cowardly he can be on Sister Wives season 18 episode 3 during his fight with Janelle. After the pair began to argue and Kody didn’t feel like he was getting his way, he dismissed Janelle and told her he wasn’t going argue with her. Rather than engaging in conversation or trying to come to a conclusion, Kody left Janelle without any sort of resolution, storming out and slamming the door. This is a pattern that Janelle has likely always found difficult.

Kody, Janelle, and the rest of the Brown family were all meant to live on a plot of land together, building their dream homes on what Kody has dubbed Coyote Pass. While Christine has likely pulled her money out of Coyote Pass, Janelle was all-in on the plan to build a house for herself on the land. She had plans drawn up for her dream home and invested the majority of her money into making that dream a reality. Unfortunately for Janelle, it quickly went south when her and Kody’s relationship began to fracture, and her Coyote Pass dreams have become nightmares as she’s sorted through her financial issues.
2, Kody Won’t Sleep With Janelle
Although there’s not much information out there about such a personal topic, Janelle and Kody have spoken about a lack of intimacy in their relationship. Kody has been explicit about the fact that there are some wives he doesn’t find attractive anymore. During a recent episode of Sister Wives season 18, Kody spoke about “plural monogamy”, explaining that Janelle didn’t seem to want a relationship with Robyn, and that made him feel like he was a husband with two families. To viewers, it simply seemed like he was looking for a way out of being intimate with his wife, which was triggering to Janelle.

Kody has affection for Janelle due to their history together, but it seems like he doesn’t love her in the way he loves Robyn. While this is merely speculation, his actions have spoken far louder than his words over the years, and it’s been clear that Kody has done damage with the way he’s treated Janelle. From being dismissive of her feelings to pushing her away, Kody has made his stance obvious. His love for Janelle has diminished over the time Sister Wives has been on, and while that may be better for Janelle in the long run, it’s hard to see things so difficult for her in the short-term.
