General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, July 21, reveals that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) seemed like he was trying to intimidate Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth), but he ultimately claimed he was joking.

Once Sonny got a call about Sasha Gilmore’s (Sofia Mattsson) arrest, he hurried out with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).

That left Austin and Ava Jerome (Maura West) to ponder how that double date really went.

Ava thought the disaster was averted for now, but Austin had his doubts about whether Ava was able to ease Sonny’s mind about him.

At GH, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) panicked over not being able to feel his legs and learned he’d undergone very extensive spinal surgery.

Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) and TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) wanted Curtis to relax, especially since his doctor still needed to look at some test results and scans.

Privately, TJ sought updates on those results and lashed out over some bad news.

Back with Curtis, he settled down and told Portia how he came looking for her after Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) said we never have enough time with the people we love.

Curtis decided he was done wasting time and only regretted that he hadn’t been able to tell Portia before all this happened.

Although Curtis was determined to get back on his feet and dance with Portia someday, she cried in TJ’s arms after hearing Curtis’ prognosis.

Portia eventually had to tell Curtis that his doctor got the latest scans back and consulted three other surgeons.

None of them believed Curtis would ever be able to walk again.

Curtis asked Portia for time alone, so she understood and agreed to leave him on his own to process everything.

Over with Dr. Damon Montague (Darin Toonder), he brushed off Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) and took Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) into an exam room for a psych evaluation.

Dr. Montague said he warned Sasha not to take too many pills, but she said she just took three a day like he told her.

After Dr. Montague gave Sasha a syringe full of something, her mental health seemed even worse.

Dr. Montague used his phone to record a weepy Sasha, who babbled on about how she had to stop Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) when he grabbed Gladys.

Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) showed up since Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) asked her to take over Sasha’s case, so she barged in and stopped Sasha from saying anything else.

Diane also ordered Dr. Montague to stop recording Sasha, but he made it clear that he already knew enough.

Sasha was sent to Ferncliff Asylum for the criminally insane, so Nina was unsettled since she knew that was a horrible place.

Diane promised that she’d fight this tooth and nail, but Sasha still had to go for now.

Sonny seemed suspicious when he quizzed Gladys about Sasha suddenly going off the rails, but Gladys played dumb. Before Sasha was taken to Ferncliff, Sonny said she wasn’t alone and tried to reassure her.

At Pentonville, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) visited Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and grew concerned about Cyrus recruiting him.

Drew insisted it was handled before talk turned to Carly selling her home.

Although Drew wanted to sell Aurora and give the money to Carly instead, she insisted Diane warned her that accepting that kind of help could make things worse.

Drew also found out about Curtis’ ordeal before time was up, so he shared one last look with Carly before she walked out.

Soon after, Drew found Cyrus and glared at him like he was gearing up for a confrontation.

Back with Sonny, he called Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) on his day off and interrupted his evening at the Metro Court pool with Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy).

Dex was ordered to do surveillance on Austin at the Port Charles Grill, so it wasn’t long until he was discreetly eavesdropping on Austin and Ava at the bar. Austin hinted that Sonny was onto them as Dex listened in.

As for Josslyn, she got a confusing phone call and wondered what the person on the other end was talking about.

General Hospital spoilers say mysteries will continue to unravel in PC, so stay tuned!
