NCIS finale teases deadly fate for Nick Torres as undercover mission ‘goes sideways’
Agent Nicolas Torres is behind bars for his latest mission on NCIS, but is his undercover alias solid enough to keep him safe?
The latest sneak peek at the upcoming NCIS finale, Black Sky, may have set up a shocking outcome for Nicolas Torres’ (played by Wilmer Valderrama) next mission.
In the finale episode of season 20, Torres will be sent to prison as Manny Delgado to dig out more information about the Russian attack on US soil from an inmate named Yuri Valkov (Themo Melikidze).
However, NCIS director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) has his concerns about the mission when he realises he’s almost completely alone with a shaky cover story.
“He didn’t have time to memorise it all,” he warns the team in a new clip.
Tim McGee (Sean Murray) assures Vance Torres is a “quick study” before the director asks Alden Parker (Gary Cole): “Is the warden our only point of contact?”
“Yeah,” Parker confirms. “Not even the prison guards know Torres is undercover.”
“So, if things go sideways he’s on his own in there?” Vance demands.
McGee assures the director they’ve got “eyes” on Torres, but the next clip from the episode reveals Vance’s concerns weren’t completely unfounded.
During a covert chat with Parker, Torres reveals Yuri is already suspicious he could be a rat.
“I think I bought myself some time,” he tells the boss. “I beat the c**p out of his muscle. Big b*****d, mean as hell, but I think it’s a good plan.”
Cole isn’t quite so sure that Torres putting a target on his back is the best way to get closer to Yuri.
Vance has already warned he won’t have any backup to help him if his cover is blown, so Torres could find himself facing an angry mob of prisoners if Yuri reveals him as an undercover agent.
In fact, Cole reveals Vance has sent him down to pull Torres out of the mission, but the hot-headed agent is determined he can get the intel they need.
“I hear you, but I’m not leaving,” he tells Cole. “There’s too much at stake. And Yuri doesn’t know it’s me.”
Unfortunately, Cole reminds Torres that Yuri still knows there’s a mole somewhere in his midst, and he won’t stop until he’s exposed and taken care of.
While Valderrama is still expected to return to the show for season 21, the CBS drama could be about to drop a huge bombshell on fans before the series takes its summer break.
Torres has already bitten off more than he can chew on several occasions throughout the series, and his short temper and disdain for the rules could be about to come back to bite him.
NCIS season 20 concludes Monday, May 22 on CBS in the USA and is available on Disney+ in the UK.
